Let's join with others to protect essential services

We can join forces to demand funding for essential health, dental, food, and housing services.

Federal legislation, "the big beautiful bill," targets Medicaid and MassHealth programs that we depend on. The law cuts the Federal share of our MassHealth programs and limits the taxes that states can levy on healthcare providers to cover MassHealth. The most vulnerable programs are Home and Community Based Services (HCBS); out-of-pocket costs for health care; food stamps; dental care; and more.

Getting and keeping MassHealth will be made more difficult by new paperwork filing and work requirements that are likely to force people out of MassHealth.

MassHealth funding will be reduced, thus insurers are likely to significantly reduce dental coverage, according to an industry source. The program that we depend on are under threat and we must rise up to protect them.

Mass Senior Action Council (MSAC)  https://www.masssenioraction.org is a statewide organization of seniors; their motto is "Don't Just Take It, Take Charge." The Mass Senior Action Council is fighting to stop cuts to vital services, according to their newsletter, Senior Action Leader.

Already engaged in the fight are Mass Law Reform Institute (MLRI); Make Hunger History; Field First; Food SNAP Coalition; SEIU; and Healthcare for All.

When our rights are attacked due to prejudice, the Massachusetts Human Rights Coalition (MAHRC) is a strong resource. They are an organization of municipal and local agencies responsible for promoting human and civil rights and harmonious relationships among diverse groups at a local level.

Dignity Alliance is focused on long term care such as assisted living and nursing homes and their interests and efforts parallel our work in public and subsidized housing.

"Dignity Alliance Massachusetts is dedicated to transformative change to ensure the dignity of older adults, people with disabilities, and their caregivers.  We are committed to advancing new ways of providing long-term services, support, living options, and care, while respecting choice and self-determination....Their activities include legislative advocacy, public education via newsletters like the "Dignity Digests," and coalition-based support for aging and disability rights."---DignityAllianceMA

Their people are, like us, vulnerable to cuts in healthcare and the services that keep them in the community when possible, and protect them in their institutional settings.

We have a common cause, to protect our rights, our dignity, and our well-being.

Let us now add our voices, let's all stand together and demand our right to the essentials of life, dignity, and respect.
